BASS BOSS MEGAWAYS: OVERVIEW
Last Updated: April 28, 2025Written by Stephen Cummings
Another fishing themed slot from Red Tiger Gaming, Bass Boss Megaways does its best to promise excitement with the vast array of features. Unfortunately, this slot does not quite hit the mark because the features are just so difficult to actually trigger!
This Bass Boss Megaways slot review gives you all of the information you need so that you can make an educated decision on whether or not you would like to play for real money.
BASS BOSS MEGAWAYS: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
After taking a look at the features available in Bass Boss Megaways, we were initially very excited to start playing. Unfortunately, we yet again feel let down by another Red Tiger slot. They really are losing their touch when it comes to creating slots. New Megaways slots are getting rare so we were really excited for the release of Bass Boss Megaways, it’s a shame that Red Tiger have not managed to deliver.
The most disappointing aspect are the features. Not because they lack quality, far from it, but because all of them are incredibly difficult to trigger. Yes, this is a high variance slot, but after over minutes of gameplay, we only triggered a 20x win once. We did not manage to trigger the Contest free spins nor any of the other features barring the Catch feature and one Underwater Mine/Boom symbol.
Granted we were betting the two lowest amounts of 20p and 40p per spin but the maximum wins we even saw on the reels was never really more than £4. We finished our session with an overall loss of over £30 and in truth, we could hardly wait to stop playing this really rather frustrating slot game.
BASS BOSS MEGAWAYS FEATURES
There plenty of what are, on the face of it, good and potentially high value slot features in Bass Boss Megaways. We have outlined them for you below. Be advised that we struggled to trigger any of the features over our 30 minute playthrough.
CATCH FEATURE
Above the reels you will see a fisherman sat in his boat with a fishing rod. Every so often (although not even nearly often enough) the fisherman will cast his rod onto one of the reels. If you see a fish symbol on the reel the fisherman has cast his line onto, you will win that amount as an instant cash prize. The fisherman will sometimes add a multiplier onto the reel too, although this does not happen often and a cast line is no guarantee of a win.
CONTEST SPINS
Three or more scatter symbols will trigger the Contest Spins bonus game. It can also be triggered by catching the Contest Spins symbol on the horizontal reel at the bottom. During Contest Spins, the fisherman will cast his fishing line on every spin.
Unfortunately, we did not manage to trigger the Contest Spins.
FISH SCHOOL
The Fish School symbol appears on the horizontal reel only and if caught, the vertical reel above will be filled with fish instant prize symbols.
UNDERWATER MINE
The Boom symbol is the Underwater Mine and appears on the horizontal reel only. If you manage to catch this symbol, you will all fish prizes which you see on the reels for that spin. During our playthrough we managed to catch the Underwater Mine once.
GROUNDBAIT
This can be used by the fisherman on any spin and is completely random. When this happens, many fish will come for a guaranteed catch. We did not manage to trigger this feature.

BASS BOSS MEGAWAYS RTP (RETURN TO PLAYER) AND MAXIMUM PAYOUTS
The RTP of Bass Boss Megaways is 96%, which is bang on average when you compare it with other online slot games in the UK.
The maximum payout available in Bass Boss Megaways is 25,539 times the bet. This is certainly above average, although the likelihood of triggering such a payout is minimal.
STRATEGIES WHEN PLAYING BASS BOSS MEGAWAYS FOR REAL MONEY

To begin with, we recommend playing at Casumo Casino where you will be guaranteed the optimal RTP level of 96%.
In terms of strategies for playing, well it’s a tough one. We were betting the minimum but did not manage to trigger many of the features at all, let alone wins. We do feel that if you go on a hot run and trigger some of the features, then there are opportunities for bigger wins though.
To be totally honest, we recommend playing other high variance slots which have better value.
EXTRA INFO
Bass Boss Megaways is played on six reels with 2-7 rows. The maximum number of paylines in play goes up to a maximum of 117,649. There are plenty of features in this fishing themed slot, but you should be aware that they are dreadfully difficult to trigger. In the UK, you will be able to play Bass Boss Megaways up to a maximum of £2 per spin and a minimum of 20p per spin.
Important information you should be aware of includes an RTP of 96% and a maximum multiplier of 25,539x. Bass Boss Megaways was released on 24/04/2025 and has been developed by Red Tiger.
THE SLOTSHAWK VERDICT

“On the face of it, Bass Boss Megaways promises a lot. Unfortunately it delivers very little. The fisherman does not cast his reel anywhere near enough times and the other features are just too difficult to trigger. This slot falls rather flat on its face unfortunately.”
